I invite you to explore my work and the stories that fuel it—a collection born from a deep belief in art’s power to transform. LIFE BEHIND THE ART

Meet Aleksandar Petkovic

A self-taught painter, professional construction engineer, nature lover, and a free-spirited man with curious mind. The man behind the Colours of Life.

“I was a successful construction project manager at the peak of my career in Dubai when I made a life-changing decision. After dedicating two decades of my life to construction business, I craved a different form of creation. Having only one life to live, I decided the next chapter needed new colours and so I turned to my lifelong passion: art.”

The Bull Who Loved to Eat Flowers

Dive into the world of Civilón, a bull whose depth and complexity outshine the familiar tale of the flower smelling Ferdinand the bull. Behind the children’s story lies a truth so bold and more intricate than you could ever imagine.

JOURNEY

To the Top

The collection is an intimate odyssey through mountain terrains, culminating at the iconic summit of Mount Everest. Each piece, with its distinctive style and palette, transitions from the stark realism of mountain silhouettes to the ethereal romanticism of natures impressions.

NATURE BEHIND THE ART

CREATING ON THE SHORES OF THE DANUBE

ART in the Wild

During the summer you can find me in my open-air atelier – Koh Chang on Danube. Nestled 1245 km from the Black Sea, this island captivates me. My summer art studio isn’t your typical four-walled space; it’s a raw, untamed piece of nature. I’ve transformed a two hundred square meters space built for a music festival, into creative haven that lies in the woods of willow, ash and mulberry trees. Here, surrounded by the mighty river and embraced by the sky, I am at my true best as an artist.

STORY OF CIVILóN

The Bull Who Loved to Eat Flowers

Who is CIVILóN?

Real Life Ferdinand the Bull

Civilón was a real-life bull whose story inspired The Story of Ferdinand, the tale of the flower-scenting bull.  Although bred for the corrida, Civilón’s first taste of fame came not from battle, but from an unexpected moment of tenderness—a young girl named Carmelita feeding him flowers. The touching scene captivated Spain, gracing the covers of magazines and turning Civilón into a national sensation. As the bull prepared for his first grand fight, fascism loomed over the country. This, however,  did not stop the manager of Barcelona’s bullring from summoning Civilón for an unforgettable showdown. The bull’s display of nobility left the audience in awe. At the peak of the spectacle, a plea for mercy- “un indulto” – rose from the stands.  Civilón was pardoned. But he was not saved.

“Shedding the weight of professional blues, I’ve embraced the joy of being an emerging artist and beginner again. Using art to call for action, I aim to reach one heart and mind at a time, trusting it will stir something in the people, so they’ll think about it and make it a point of discussion.“

THE MIND BEHIND THE ART

Bullfighting Symbolism in Paintings: Civilón and Hemingway

Few subjects in art carry as much raw emotion and cultural weight as bullfighting symbolism in paintings. Ernest Hemingway’s Death in the Afternoon immortalized the Spanish corrida in literature, while the series Civilon captures its visceral drama on canvas. This article explores the artist’s

Gone with a River: Ephemeral Art

“The abandoned art gallery, transformed into my ephemeral art atelier, became a symbol of both creativity and impermanence. Nestled among the trees on Karlovačka Ada, this space changed everything. Island atelier, built on sand, surrounded by trees, and kissed by the river’s
