THE NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE, 80x60cm; 31.5×23.6″, Acrylic on Canvas, Aleksandar Petković, Available Soon
This painting captures the near-death experience, underscoring the support from unseen hands needed to reach life’s summits.
After the two-month journey, Dolores Al Scheila and her team were about to reach the summit of Mount Everest when Dolores faced a life-threatening experience due to the “high altitude cough”, a condition triggered by the extreme conditions on the mountain. At this critical moment, a seasoned guide, Alex, discovered her struggling condition and provided her with an oxygen mask, which helped her recover. Alex stayed with her to keep her talking and awake to ensure she remained conscious until she recovered. The painting is the impression of Dolores’ near-death experience, symbolizing her falling and rising from the dangerous situation. Dolores, a Jordanian-Serbian, became the first Arab and second Serbian woman to climb the highest mountain in the world.
In this work of art, I have tried to express not only Dolores’ perilous struggle but also her triumphant spirit. Her extraordinary journey is a testament to human resilience and determination.
🎨 This piece is a tribute to Dolores bravery and the indomitable human spirit.
